L'Instant du Mentorat
The month of December we were working through our Inquiry Based Unit in Numeracy while focusing on the effectiveness of our math journals in our classrooms. Our students have had a good amount of time now to explore their journals as well as many opportunities to follow modelled entries and independent entries.
We took the time to have the grade 7/8 students interview the grade 3 students on their thoughts and opinions in regards to their learning in math and their math journals. We are still progressing with our journals and learning how to use them as an ongoing assessment tool and an effective learning tool for the students.
Attached is a video of the intermediate students interviewing the primary students.
Stay tuned for an interview process with the grade 3s interviewing the grade 7/8s. We are curious to see how each grade level perceives the math journal as a learning tool and how effective the math journal is for each age group.
