We have been meeting for about six months now, and have shared many ideas about how to better support math learning for ELLs with prior schooling. Today we shared student work, photos, videos and reflections on how we are using our knowledge and the resources we have acquired in the classsroom. There was good discussion and feedback. We discussed retention as a common challenge for our students and looked at some possibilities for improving retention, including co-created, interactive word walls. We used feedback from recent discussions with other ALPHA teachers to enhance our teacher resource. James modelled the use of Nearpod by creating an interactive presentation that helped us to respond to common errors in ELLS math. The presentation had it all - content, quizzes, open ended questions, drawing and surveys. Nearpod is an exciting learning tool for sure.
