Back to School and Back to Blogging.

It was great to get together again today to get geared up and inspired for a new year of blogging and learning. It was great to collaborate about math ideas and to learn about the Digital Human Library. We also set up some partnerships with same grade classes to read and comment on each other's blogs. We are planning to compare data and interact back and forth.Another great day of learning!See More

A Day With Kristy Illman

Today's session was so valuable!! Breaking down the curriculum document into a continuum made focusing on what the kids need to know about fractions so much more clear. There were fantastic resources shared (I have some summer reading to do) and I have some work to do in order to break down other math content area in the same way. I found the conversations about concrete, visual and abstract learning very beneficial and will teach differently as a result.  Now I need time to digest all of this…See More

New Pedagogies

Wow!  My mind is spinning.  There are a couple of things that resonated with me today. If kids know how to learn, they can learn anything. I will be focusing on documenting not only the outcome of a task but the process that the kids use to get there. I need to give my students more time to reflect and think critically about their learning and how we can use documenting to achieve that. I will be teaching the students how to comment on each other's posts in order to encourage the students to,…See More

TLLP Meeting - February 2016

Today I come away from the meeting inspired and eager to take our next steps into the blogging world. It is still overwhelming but I am feeling better about going step by step and figuring it out as I go along. For our class site, my next step is to add some pages and widgets. We had great discussion today about the ways we can use pages and widgets to enhance the blog for both students and parents. For the student blogs our next step will be choosing taglines and being able to posts photos…See More

Blogging as Digital Portfolios
