L'Instant du Mentorat
I am currently Manager of Professional Learning with the YMCA of Greater Toronto after 40 years teaching students & teachers.
As a founding teacher at the YMCA Academy – a secondary school serving youth who prefer an alternative approach - I learned a great deal about Harm Reduction, Appreciative Inquiry, and the Transtheoretical Stages of Change model.
I've been involved in technology supported, project-based learning since the late 1970s (yeah, yeah - LONG time ago!) and I continue to explore & develop deep applications of the latest Web 2.0 technologies – particularly as it relates to learner agency, passion, motivation and cognitive intent.
I serve on the Board of Directors of iEARN-Canada, the conference committee for the Educational Computing Organization of Ontario, and am a global ambassador with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
I support both face-to-face and online learning for the Ontario Teachers’ Federation and am also co-founder of the Minds On Media model of professional learning which truly reflects how I wish classrooms to be.
I encourage all students & teachers to be mindful – to ‘take charge of their own learning’. If you'd like to learn more about my thoughts, ahas, frustrations and excitement regarding education check out The Construction Zone!
Love…rock-climbing, motorcycles, mountains, oceans…yeah, adventures – even at my age!! lol
