Fully Immersed in the TLLP 2015

So, we have completed almost 2 full months of school and our TLLP is well under way. We have had two days of learning and planning and rather a few bumps and headaches.

Our first release-time day of learning, back in September, included two Board consultants to help us with some technical aspects of D2L and O365. Our TLLP is focusing on how to use D2L and O365 to differentiate instruction for students on an IEP. Students are using Chromebooks for their learning … and so are…

TLLP advice & Capacity Building

Creating the TLLP started another wave of interest and awareness in our school around what a TLLP actually is and how other staff can apply.  I found myself assisting two different teachers on their TLLP application last year and have encouraged others to engage in this type of professional engagement. For all of our team members this has been a professionally invigorating event that has brought us closer together with other staff and spurned us on to be inventive and reinvent our practice…

Sharing the Learning: A New PLC from TLLP team members

One of the best things that came out of the TLLP was how the materials and skills we developed in our classes helped to start a new culture of professional development in our school.  As the participants in the TLLP are in many different departments (Guidance, English, Theology) and interact with various parts of the school we found ourselves becoming a new resource for staff.

As project lead I found myself on the tech committee in our school which worked on assessing tech needs in…

year summary

Highlights from last year's Community Narrative Project included a series of school wide campaigns that were inspired by classes the participated in the project.  This included a strong focus on issues of social justice & student equity along with community development issues. In the campaigns we had student led assemblies, community forums and activities during lunches.  We worked with student clubs, and community partners to complete these projects as they were spear headed out of the…

And so it begins...

Our TLLP team created a survey to help track use of technology and attitudes towards technology at our school. At the end of our project, we will hopefully see an increase in use of technology in our teaching practice. This is what our staff members told us:

1) How comfortable are you using technology as a teaching tool in the classroom? (e.g., document camera, desktop computer)

Very comfortable - 37.5%

Comfortable - 25%

Somewhat comfortable - 25%

Not…

Links to external blogs

We will be maintaining two external blogspot accounts that will be used to share our journey throughout the TLLP. We are using two sites to help break the process into information focusing on the experience of the classroom teacher; how the integration of technology has allowed for changes in their practice and the way that students are able to engage with the material in class; and from a technology end how and why we have went with the technology choices…

Notre apprentissage continue...

Continue
